Tenderloin Museum 6th Anniversary Gala!
September 9th, 2021
Reception: 5:30 to 8:30pm
@ The Phoenix Hotel
601 Eddy Street, San Francisco, CA

I'm very pleased to announce my new painting "Cadillac-Tenderloin" (24" x 24", oil on canvas) to be unveiled at upcoming Tenderloin Museum's 6th Anniversary Gala on September 9th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. This event celebrates TLM's most devoted supporters and friends in person with an enchanting evening of live music, art, refreshments, and of course Tenderloin history. For more information about this event and for purchasing tix.

"Cadillac-Tenderloin" presents the original building facade of the Tenderloin Museum which resides at the historic site of the Cadillac Hotel, located at 398 Eddy Street in San Francisco. It is fantastic to hear that the Tenderloin Museum will have a new neon sign to adorn its building as it once did many years ago. I'm so thrilled I was invited to participate in this project by both the Tenderloin Museum and Neon Speaks to paint a piece related to the museum's building facade and incorporating the new neon signs of Cadillac-Tenderloin

This painting is my interpretation of these neon signs glowing at twilight, and placed individually at opposite sides of the canvas, and accompanied by the building viewed from an angle intersecting Eddy and Larkin Streets. The neon signs are painted with the original colors of Neon Red and Argon Blue, and with great excitement to light up the streets again.

This shall be a fun gala at the Phoenix courtyard, "a quintessentially Tenderloin urban shangri-la: an iconic and historic neighborhood landmark that, once inside, transports visitors into a timeless atmosphere of our storied nightlife district's best-of-times", excerpt taken from Tenderloin Museum.

For those wishing to attend, it would be lovely to see you there!

Fondly,

Patricia Araujo

PRESS RELEASE BY TENDERLOIN MUSEUM:

On September 9th, Tenderloin Museum invites you to light up the night in your most fabulous attire for an outdoor 6th Anniversary Gala at the legendary Phoenix Hotel. We are excited to safely celebrate TLM's most devoted supporters and friends in person with an enchanting evening of live music, art, refreshments, and--of course--Tenderloin history. To provide support to the Tenderloin Museum, please consider purchasing a ticket.

Awash in a warm neon glow, the Phoenix courtyard is a quintessentially Tenderloin urban shangri-la: an iconic and historic neighborhood landmark that, once inside, transports visitors into a timeless atmosphere of our storied nightlife district's best-of-times. The rock and roll spirit still abides at the Phoenix; that energizing spirit is what we need heading into the 2022 season, as the Tenderloin Museum continues its work engaging Tenderloin residents, as well as visitors from around the Bay Area and beyond, with dynamic and substantial place based history so we can more deeply understand and appreciate our community.

Your safety is our top priority. Proof of vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test within the past 72 hours will be required to attend and will be checked upon arrival. This event will also be held entirely outdoors.

Tenderloin Museum's 2021 6th Anniversary Gala will be soundtracked by the soulful jazz stylings of special guests Lavay Smith and Chris Seibert, whose encyclopedic repertoire roots down to the Tenderloin's own bygone bar the Blue Lamp, where the pair's Red Hot Skillet Lickers band got its start. Enjoy refreshing elixirs and decadent hors d'oeuvres while mingling poolside with fellow Tenderloin aficionados and community members, and learn more about the Tenderloin Museum's major upcoming projects like the new Cadillac/Tenderloin neon sign. Each of our galas has been unique, and we assure you this long-awaited celebration will be unlike any other.
