FROM SF HISTORY DAYS EVENT PAGE:
For “San Francisco History Days 2020”, Patricia Araujo is presenting a slideshow featuring work from her “Facades: Mid-Market Landmarks” series, as well as information about her books and highlights of her past exhibitions which also include at the Old U.S. Mint during San Francisco History Days of the past.
While living in San Francisco’s SoMa (“South of Market”), Patricia Araujo witnessed the changes taking place in this redeveloping neighborhood, and found herself enchanted by the rich architectural history of that area and the decayed beauty that remains. Her fascination with domes, towers, sacred and municipal structures began with daily observations of the Golden Gate Theatre at Sixth and Market.
Since the late 1990’s, Patricia Araujo has painted the facades of both iconic city landmarks and abandoned downtown buildings. Araujo’s stately, abstract paintings depict praiseworthy examples of the city’s architecture, some utilitarian and others grandly ornamental. She portrays survivors of Beaux-Arts San Francisco, such as the Hibernia Bank and the Old Emporium dome. Other notable landmarks include the Warfield, the Forgotten Fox Theatre, the Old Mint, the Marriott Marquis, the Thermal plants of 6th & Jessie Streets, and the new high-rise additions in SoMa.

From Patricia Araujo (September 24th, 2020)
I hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy, and that you're able to enjoy this beautiful week! I can imagine how busy and challenging our lives have become and adapting to these unprecedented times. And indeed, it has been almost a whole year since my last email announcement and alas, here we are now! I can say for myself, it's been quite a marathon with ups and downs, and I'm so very grateful that during this late month of September, that certain institutions and businesses can re-open again, and somehow offer an aperture to welcoming back the Arts and Culture in San Francisco.
I'm so delighted to share with you a favorite annual event that I will be participating this weekend of September 25th-27th: "San Francisco History Days", which celebrates its 10th year anniversary! Traditionally, "SF History Days" takes place at the historic Old Mint during first weekend in March, and in lieu of the current pandemic, this organization has been planning for months this special happening and are very excited to make this grand event come to reality now. For this year's event, it will offer a full house of virtual programmings for this weekend that I highly recommend checking out, which also include a few in-person guided tours at selected venues.
My participation with "SF History Days" for this 10th year anniversary, is a slideshow video that I developed specifically for this event, titled "Facades: Mid-Market Landmarks" - Paintings by yours truly! This slideshow features original artworks from my “Facades: Mid-Market Landmarks” series, as well as historical information about particular buildings that I was influenced for painting. I also share about my books and highlights of my past exhibitions which also include at the Old U.S. Mint during San Francisco History Days of the past.
This video can be publicly viewed as of today by visiting on youtube and/or with the official programming event page with SF History Days. I forewarn, this slideshow is a lengthy one hour presentation, and can be viewed at your best convenience...so take your time to be relaxed, and immerse with this presentation that I hope you will enjoy!
Fondly,
Patricia Araujo
