Dear Friends and Art Enthusiasts
,
I have some good news to share with you: Due to the great response I received from the attendees during last month's event at Treasure Island, (where I exhibited paintings of the architectural wonders of Treasure Island's World Fair of 1939- Golden Gate International Exposition), I've been invited by the Treasure Island Museum Association to exhibit with them again at the upcoming "San Francisco History Expo" at the Old Mint, which takes place this weekend, on Saturday, March 1st (11:00am to 5:00pm) and on Sunday, March 2nd (11:00am to 4:00pm).

The Treasure Island Museum joins more than fifty San Francisco organizations as they create "mini-museums" showcasing the diverse history of San Francisco's communities. In addition, there will be historic films, special programs, an art exhibition, and more. This is the Fourth Annual Expo, and the Treasure Island Museum hasn’t missed one yet.

I am beyond thrilled for this opportunity to be part of the "SF History Expo" and to exhibit with the Treasure Island Museum at the historic Old Mint - a building I've fancied for years and have also painted it! You can find the Treasure Island Museum booth in the big vault at the bottom of the north staircase. There will have films (and chairs) in their “TIMax Theater,” treasures on display, books and other items for purchase, and of course their volunteer experts on Treasure Island history will be on hand to answer all (or most of) your questions. There will also have available for purchase gently-used copies of Richard Reinhardt’s book Treasure Island 1939-1940: The Exposition Years.

At the Treasure Island Booth, I will have 2 paintings of the Treasure Island Fair on display to accompany the museum's archives. Featured will be my most recent painting, titled, "Tribute to Pacifica" - homage to the face of the statue of Pacifica, inspired by the cover image found on the original brochure of the fair. This beautiful statue stood at the Treasure Island World's Fair from 1939-40. Below are photos of this painting's progress, from beginning to completion. Also on view, I will have a painting of the Old Mint, titled "New Mint",
(photo seen at beginning of this newsletter!), and 2 more paintings relating to San Francisco's Mid-Market iconic landmarks.
