Inter-Continental & Thermal Plant, presents the thermal plant of 6th & Jessie Streets against the tall building facade of the Inter-Continental Hotel, located in San Francisco's South of Market. This time, the buildings are featured in a linear format and abstracted forms, surrounded by a changing cloudy sky.
This painting was inspired by a photograph taken by San Francisco Chronicle Urban Critic, John King, whom I've admired his writings and photography. I was delighted he offered permission for me to paint it.
Inter-Continental & Thermal Plant was first exhibited during Araujo's solo show, ON THE EDGE OF DELICATE LINES, July-September 7th, 2013 at Alphaville Gallery, in San Francisco. It was also exhibited at Arttitud in San Francisco, in September 2013. This painting will be on view at the Old Mint, for Mid-Market Landmarks solo exhibition in San Francisco, January-March 2015.
