I dedicated a series of drawings devoted to Longleat’s rooftop, the majestic and fantastic rooftop of the 17th century home of the Marquess of Bath. The scenery offers decorative chimney tops and bellcotes, which form a city of its own. The chimney tops become iconic, along with the surrounding structures. Under Construction I, presents a beginning view of the rooftop, scaffolding is in its foundation. This drawing can be seen as metaphysical, a sublime encounter, a frontal view of the rooftop. Under Construction I was exhibited in 2004 at Den, in San Francisco, in conjunction with a book release exhibition by the California College of the Arts, entitled CCA Literary Journal Inauguration: Eleven-Eleven, Volume I. The Longleat Series drawings were published in this book.
