Alphaville Gallery is proud to present
"ON THE EDGE OF DELICATE LINES", a solo exhibition featuring original paintings by Patricia Araujo related to San Francisco's central city architecture. Notable landmarks include the original Fox Theatre, the Warfield, The Golden Gate Theatre, Hibernia Bank, the Old Mint, Old Emporium dome, Furniture & Carpets, Federal Building, the thermal plants of 6th & Jessie Streets and the new high rise additions in SoMa. She will be exhibiting new paintings, along with other unseen and past works. The femininity Patricia Araujo expresses in these selected paintings mirrors her unique and personal interpretation of cityscapes.

While living in the South of Market, Patricia Araujo was a witness to many of the changes taking place in this redeveloping neighborhood. Her fascination with domes, towers, sacred and municipal structures began with daily observations of the Golden Gate Theatre at Sixth and Market. For over a decade, she has painted the facades of both iconic city landmarks and downtown buildings. Her paintings depict praiseworthy examples of San Francisco architecture, some utilitarian and others grandly ornamental; addressing the themes of urban growth and decay. Araujo continues to deepen her conceptual themes on architecture, place and change in the urban landscape.

“Araujo reminds us that the buildings of our cities' commercial neighborhoods were architects' fantasies before they became assertive new realities and then, after the passage of time, objects of nostalgia. Her paintings as a whole reaffirms the city's daydream of itself as a uniquely beautiful amalgam of past and present.” By Jerome Tarshis, excerpt taken from Araujo's book, "SOMA SEEN".

Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, July 27th, from 12:00-4:00pm at the NEW Alphaville Gallery, 336 Liberty Street, in San Francisco. Curated by Betty Bigas and J. Politi. (Free admission). Exhibit runs through September 7th. Open by appt only, please contact: alphavillegallery@gmail.com

ABOUT ALPHAVILLE
A portal to Alphaville has been discovered in the Mission neighborhood. A renown bastion for art in the outer universe, Alphaville will now open it's doors to the people of San Francisco as a novel and itinerant art gallery. Their people have scanned our planet and located local and international artists of innovative views and exceptional skill.

They plan to periodically invite these artists to exhibit their works, give lectures, and offer workshops. Invited artists will revel intervening in the singular and chameleonic spaces provided. A magnetic momentum will attract audiences and lead the way towards an enhanced appreciation of art and the environment. Alphaville's society cultivates intense interaction and discussion, because an emotion can be elicited by a piece of art, but describing that feeling means developing a whole new language.
